1) What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
I was previously a Spinning instructor for 10 years. I was getting bored with the the routine. I needed something that was going to challenge me and increase my strength.
2) What was your first impression? How has that changed?
I almost passed out in my first WOD (2013). However, there was something about the sense of community, competition, and encouragement in the group environment that kept me coming back for more. After 2 years, the box I was attending closed (Open Country CrossFit). I went to Root 18 along with Nicole W and Jeff F. I wasn’t sure how it was going to be because I had developed strong relationships at Open Country. However, a couple of things happened, 1) My strength and WODs improved significantly, 2) I felt I was getting more out of coaching (BMU, C2B), and 3) I developed stronger relationships at Root 18.
3) What was your first “goal”? Did you hit it?
My first goal was to do a kipping pull-up. I ached that goal 6 months after starting crossfit in 2013
4) What are you working on now?
I am working on getting my first ring muscle up, and I would like to complete Murph this May as prescribed (with weighted vest)
5) What’s your favorite Root 18 memory?
My favorite memory has to be from several weeks ago when I came out to perform for my team for 16.4 in a Superman costume with my Ric Flair championship belt, and my teammates cheering me on.
